Chracteristics of the London trading session

London is a global center for trade because of its location. Because of that, it is considered the forex capital of the world, with 30% of all transactions occurring during the London session. The London session overlaps with multiple other sessions, so there is great liquidity and lower spreads. London tends to be the most volatile session because there is so much action going on. Most trends begin during the London session and end when the New York session opens. But sometimes the trend will reverse at the end of the London session as people try to lock in profits. Volatility reaches a low point during the middle of the session because traders often stay back while waiting for New York to open. During London you should stick to the major European pairs to take advantage of the tight spreads, because those pairs often have tight spreads anyway, and even more so during London trading.
