Culture gives meaning to design
For a design to be good and effective, it has to fit into the time and place in which it is created. For example, many modern day painters do work that is visually similar to Impressionist art. But it isn't the same now. Impressionism arose out of the rising middle class in Paris and the rise of photography, which came together to create impressionism. While a lot of people can copy that style, it doesn't have the same cultural significance today. #GraphicDesign #DesignForHackers
