Imperfect verb tense
The imperfect tense is used to indicate a continuing or repeating event in the past.
"I was eating."
"They were running fast."
"I used to go there every Thursday."
If the phrase does not indicate an action, it is NOT an imperfect tense. For example, the phrase "He was hungry" is not imperfect tense, it is just simple past tense, because it does not indicate an action.
