Nouns ending in -ista can be either masculine or feminine in the singular.
Masculine nouns form the plural by changing the final a to an i.
Feminine nouns form the plural by changing the final a to an e.
For example, the word for artist is l'artista. To make it plural masculine, it becomes gli artisti. To make it plural feminine it becomes le artiste.
