Difference between rem and em in CSS

In , there are 2 ways to set the size of an element relative to font size. You can use rem or em. Here's the difference. em is relative to the font-size of the nearest parent element. rem is relative to the root font-size of the html document. Because em is based on the nearest parent element, the value of an em could change at different places on the page. A rem will be the same anywhere on the page because it is always based on the root font size.
